Rapid Response Pilot Project

Since the implementation of the Traffic Management System in Mriehel, The Foundation in collaboration with the Police Force initiated a patrolling and Rapid Response Pilot project. Two police officers are patrolling the area from Monday to Friday – 8am till 5pm in order to educate, enforce and support the Central Business District as necessary.

New Parking Rates

Following feedback from employees and operators of the Central Business District the Foundation managed to reach into an agreement in reducing the daily parking rate from €2.50 to €2 per vehicle per day from Monday to Friday from 7am till 6pm and Saturdays from 7am till 12pm. The parking is situated in Triq Territorials (between Homemate & AlterDomus).

New Traffic Management Plan

Following several months of studies and discussions with Transport Malta and all Operators in Mriehel, the new Traffic Management arrangements will kick off on Monday 22nd October 2018. A number of Transport Malta Enforcement Officers and Police Force will be on site to guide, educate and enforce motorist on the new arrangements.

The Temporary Car Park started operating in the last week of September for a nominal fee of €2.50 per vehicle per day from Monday to Friday from 7am till 6pm and Saturdays from 7am till 12pm. The parking is situated in Triq Territorials (between Homemate & AlterDomus).

September 2018 – Issue 14

Works are currently ongoing and will be completed by mid-October. These new arrangements will be accompanied by the provision of new car park spaces in a site adjacent to Alter Domus and Homemate. Following several discussions with Transport Malta it was agreed that the new traffic management arrangements will kick off on the 22nd October 2018 and a number of TM Enforcement Officers will be on site to guide and educate motorist on the new arrangements.

The Central Business District Foundation has teamed up with Transport Malta to devise a traffic management system for Mriehel. The traffic management system currently being contemplated addresses the day-to-day needs of the area.

December 2017 – Issue 11

The industrial zone of Mrieħel will now be known as the Central Business District as part of the robust revitalisation in creating new business opportunities and dutiful regeneration of the area. This was official launch on the 24th November 2017 by the Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Businesses Dr Chris Cardona and the Foundation’s members.
