Weed killer and repellent were sprayed along and underneath pavements to discourage re-growth. This assignment was done over a number of days and was conducted after a thorough inspection of the area. The clean-up has resulted in a smarter environment and a number of car parking spaces which were obstructed have now been cleared.

he Minister praised the many infrastructural projects embarked upon by the Central Business District Foundation during the first 5 years since it was formed. He noted with satisfaction that 12 million euro were spent to re-generate an area which was largely dilapidated and neglected. He emphasized the importance of the Central Business District as an investment and employment hub and noted that both investment and employment were to continue to increase substantially in the future.

Call for Tenders

The Central Business District Foundation (CBDF) has issued a call for tenders for the leasing of furnished premises to house the administrative offices of the CBDF. The lease is for a period of 2 years with the possibility for an extension of a further year. The premises must be located within the established perimeter of the Central Business District.

Two police officers from the Qormi Police District are patrolling the zone from Monday to Friday – 8am till 5pm in order to educate, enforce and support the users of the Central Business District. The Foundation also invested in a new Electric police vehicle, the first one in Malta, to be used in the zone. The officers extra duty and the vehicle are fully funded by the Foundation.
