THE SECOND MEETING OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR GROUP WAS HELD ON 17TH FEBRUARY 2022 REMOTELY VIA ZOOM DURING WHICH AN ELECTION WAS HELD BETWEEN THE MEMBERS PRESENT TO ELECT THE ADMINISTRATORS APPOINTED BY THE PRIVATE SECTOR.
It is of great satisfaction to note that from the 9 members nominated, the following 6 entities where elected to be the new Administrators of the Foundation representing the Private Sector: Bank of Valletta p.l.c., C. Fino & Sons Ltd, Forestals Investments Limited, Methode Electonics Malta Limited, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Simonds Farsons Cisk p.l.c.
The Members of the Private Sector Group also committed to participate in the Foundation Endowment Scheme for another 3 year that is the period 2023 to 2025. During this meeting, the the Board of Administrators also recommended that Mr William Wait is re-appointed Chairman of the Board of Administrators for a term of eighteen months. It is to be noted that once the new Administration is in place, the Administrators representing Government will also be appointed.
During this meeting, Scheme Rules on New Endowments were adopted based on the previous Scheme Rules of the Foundation and thus rules outlining a tariff structure based on a dual classification based on usage (number of employees) and presence (footprint area in square metres). Both bands are to be assigned an equal 1:1 weighting and the micro-operators will continue to participate in the Foundation through the Chamber of SMEs which as representative of the micro-SMEs and will continue to be considered a Founder in the Foundation.
Following the earlier announcement that 12 electric vehicle chargers will be installed within the CBD, 2 rapid Charging station have been already installed and another 5 rapid EV Charging stations will be installed by the end of the next quarter.

After consultations with the Ministry for Local Council together with the B’kara and Qormi Local Councils, it was agreed that the following temporary permits will be processed by the CBD online on behalf of the respective Local Councils thus ensuring a single point of contact for operators.
The software has been sourced and training is being provided to CBD in order for the system to be in place by the end of April. The target to issue the first temporary permits is on the 2nd of May.

A letter is being circulated to all operators within the area to ensure the inclusion of the Central Business District and respective Zone in all letterheads and websites of operators. This will be followed by a number meetings with relevant Government Entities and stakeholders including Lands Authority TM, IM and the Planning Authority.
You may wish to note also that the logo of the District has been trademarked and you may make use of this logo in all your letterheads. The CBDF is in the process of identifying a professional marketing company to assist it in the promotion of the new name and brand.
