Community Policing

THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT FOUNDATION HAS EMBARKED ON A TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM THAT IS CURRENTLY BEING IMPLEMENTED. THE FOUNDATION, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE POLICE FORCE, INITIATED A PATROLLING AND RAPID RESPONSE PILOT PROJECT.

Two police officers from the Qormi Police District are patrolling the zone from Monday to Friday – 8am till 5pm in order to educate, enforce and support the users of the Central Business District. The Foundation also invested in a new Electric police vehicle, the first one in Malta, to be used in the zone. The officers extra duty and the vehicle are fully funded by the Foundation.

In order to facilitate the communication between the stakeholders of the Central Business District and the police officers on duty, a dedicated telephone number (9917 3777) is available.

Since the launch of this project, the officers received an average of 20 calls per day. Since January 2019, a total of 328 reported accidents were attended to.

We urge everyone to use this service and also report any illegalities in order to keep our zone as organised as possible.

ROAD WORKS

Road works continued on the new road which is an extension of Triq L-Intornjatur connecting the Central Business District with Triq il-Kanun, Qormi.

Phase one has been completed which now connects Triq in-Negozju with Triq L-Intornjatur. This connection improved the traffic flow drastically since now motorists can exit the Central Business District via Triq L-Intornjatur.
