Storm Water Project

The Central Business District, in collaboration with the Marine and Storm Water Unit within the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, carried out works to minimise the risk of flooding at the far end of Triq L-Intornjatur. Works were carried out between July and August and consisted of the installation of a water culvert pipe capable of handling a larger volume of water. The 800mm diameter pipe of total length of 158m was installed in an underground culvert which crosses
below the Mriehel By-pass. The stormwater pipe was connected to the national flood relief project on the Qormi side of the by-pass.

This project cost approximately €158,000 and was fully financed by the Foundation. The works were supervised by the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects.

LED Street Lighting Project

The Foundation, in collaboration with Enemalta plc continued on the works with respect to the new LED street lighting project within CBD.

Out of 361 street lamps 201 are already installed.

Road Works

The Foundation, in collaboration with Malta Industrial Parks and Projects Plus, continued working on the embellishment of the Zone. Road Works have been carried out in most of the areas in Central Business District. Further works are continuing. This
project is fully financed by the Foundation.

Entrance Totems

THE SECOND PHASE OF THE SIGNAGE PROJECT IS COMPLETED. ENTRANCE TOTEMS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED SHOWING DIRECTION AND ENTRANCES OF THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT.

Maps

THE NEXT PHASE WILL BE THE INSTALLATION OF THE LARGE FORMAT MAPS. THESE WILL START BEING INSTALLED AS FROM MID-OCTOBER IN
PROMINENT AREAS OF THE CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT.
